The region is abuzz in summer. Bastille Day (or La Fete Nationale, as the French call it) brings big crowds to Monpazier for a festival and fireworks, and in late July the annual Medieval Fair transports you to another era. Monpazier also hosts marches nocturnes (night markets) during July & August, as do many other nearby villages. Summer abounds with wonderful fresh local Perigourdine produce: juicy red berries & peaches, amazing varieties of heirloom tomatoes, Quercy melons, green asparagus. In mid August orchardists are picking and drying their plums for their famous Agen Prunes. The fruit trees at Villa Ste Therese should also be ready to harvest, so pick away!
